Prohibited Occupations
There are some roles that regular citizens can’t fill because they are managed by Vythrosa a Proxus and carried out by PZHs. You can’t give your Vythrosan any of the following occupations:
- Any formal military roles (soldier, general, etc.): All military roles are, without exception, filled by PZHs and overseen by the VaP.
- You can make your Vythrosan any sort of unofficial soldier or operative, as long as it is not tied to the government. Mercenaries, secret agents, VaP unaffiliated PMC operatives, and similar roles are technically illegal on Vythrosa, but don’t let that stop you!

- Any governmental roles (president, mayor): This includes agency specific roles (e.g. FBI agent, CIA operative, environmental protection agents, game wardens, etc.) and anything that would have to be a part of any federal or local government body or report directly to a government agency.
- Police roles: This includes 911/ emergency line operators. Police forces operate differently on Vythrosa, and all formal protective agents are PZHs.
- For the record, the police system on Vythrosa is very well regulated and fair, so unjust altercations and incidents are extremely rare. Police brutality is virtually nonexistent. Please keep this in mind if incorporating police into your character’s story.

- Lifelines: These are the Hyros that maintain PCSPCs, create new Hyros, and otherwise manage plant life. They are specially programmed Hyros similar to PZHs and never leave their home PCSPC.
- Federally managed resource operation roles: The VaP provides all large scale resource acquisition and transportation, so your Vythrosan can’t run or be part of corporate commercial fishing, logging, farming, mining, or other direct means of obtaining massive amounts of raw materials and crops.
- Again, local or small operations are fine. Your Vythrosan can be a lumberjack; they just can’t be part of a giant logging and lumber company. If the company your Vythrosan works for has more than 50 employees, it’s probably too big.
- Federally managed system roles: Things like road repair workers, Vanition point assistants, Datalink managers, and similar occupations under the VaP are unable to be filled by regular citizens.
- These roles are filled exclusively by PZHs, which allows critical systems and infrastructure to be created, maintained, and repaired efficiently.
- Critical healthcare roles: Surgeons, emergency medical doctors, and EMTs are always PZHs. Likewise, autopsies are always performed by PZHs.
Specialty Occupations
Because of the systems the VaP designed for day-to-day operations, such as requiring all critical healthcare be performed by PZHs, there are unique roles regular citizens can fill related to some of the off-limits roles listed above. There are also traditional careers that only Kaarmesusi or Faelthros can have because they are unique to their cultures.
- Relayers (PHSO): The PZH EMTs are always accompanied by one to three relayers, whose job is to inform any witnesses of the protocol, what the EMTs are doing, and offer compassion to any relatives present if the subject did not make it. PZHs are very effective at whatever their designated role is, but they are completely emotionless, so they rely on relayers to break bad news and keep any onlookers under control. PZH’s will always attempt life saving measures until the victim has succumbed to their injuries.
- Kaarmesusi & Faelthro Medical Aides (PHSO): Before the Cataclysm, surgeons and doctors only knew how to operate and treat Hyros, so there are special roles Kaarmesusi and Faelthros can fill to ensure the PZH medical workers help their non-Hyro patients better. Things like advocates, advisors, and medical informants exist for this reason. They can be found in any medical facility and PCSPC.
- Personable Assistants (Servicer): Similar to relayers, personable assistants (PAs) are Vythrosans (any race) that work alongside PZHs and step in when a customer or client is getting frustrated with the less-than-enthusiastic responses from a PZH. They are common at Vanitions, since a Hyro using one for the first time might not understand they need to put all of their belongings into a different box for their safety, so a PA will step in to explain why and sympathize with them. Their purpose is to de-escalate and soothe, while reiterating what the PZH has already told them, and can be found in almost any field that is operated exclusively by PZHs.
- Contract Keepers (Servicer): A longstanding tradition in Faelthro culture is the honorable role of contract keeping. Faelthros do not just fall into this role; they choose it at a young age and if they prove they have what it takes, they will begin formal training with their local contract keeper. A Faelthro must have exceptional memory, organizational, and communication skills. Contract keepers will write, update, and enforce agreements between various parties and store these physical copies in their shops, which they also live in full time. Most contract keepers have assistants to run their errands, because they don’t want to leave the hundreds of papers and scrolls unattended.
- Gemologist (Artisan): Kaarmesusi have raw magic scattered throughout their bodies, but it tends to be densest within their bones. When a susi dies, their loved ones will take their corpse to a gemologist, who will cremate it and crush the bones into a powder, extract the magic, and crystalize it. They will then present the resulting gemstone to the deceased’s family, who can choose to display it in their community’s death mural or have it turned into jewelry.
- Memory Extractors (Legalist): This role is reserved for Hyros and involves extracting the memories of a deceased Hyro to use as evidence in court. They usually ride with EMTs to the location of a called in accident, in case the victim dies or is DOA. The memories are easiest to extract when the body is still warm—using a special connector, they ‘plug in’ to the deceased’s back port and copy the footage just before the accident. If it appears to be murder, they will also look for suspicious memories to try and identify suspects.

A note on illegal and/or immoral occupations:
We expect the vast majority of our players will have no need to worry about this, but for those of you who prefer to create morally dubious content and characters, we have outlined what is and isn’t allowed on Vythrosa.
While Vythrosa encourages users to explore mature themes with their characters, we ask that you use your discretion and refrain from using them for particularly repugnant content. You are free to create villainous or disturbed characters, such as cannibals, murderers, organ harvesters, and other related roles. You may also give your characters adult professions, like sex work, owning a brothel, or similarly suggestive roles. However, we do not allow written or illustrated depictions of explicit gore, mutilation, sex, or similar content anywhere on site. If you choose to use your characters for any of these subjects, you must ensure it is not accessible via our site from any avenue.
This includes linking to offsite profiles for your characters (i.e. ToyHouse). Please do not link directly to a character’s offsite profile if it has publicly viewable explicit content on it (such as in a gallery). If you link offsite to explicit content, you will be asked to remove it. If it becomes a recurring issue, we will take punitive measures against your account.
Additionally, there are some things we do not allow users to include Vythrosa IP (including registered characters) in AT ALL, including but not limited to anything featuring: bestiality (specifically that which depicts real life animals), pedophilia or underage sexual content, hatespeech, and similarly related “shock” content. This includes all forms of imagery, text, video, music, and physical media. Using your Vythrosans for prohibited content is grounds for immediate and permanent removal from Vythrosa upon discovery, both from our website and any community channels, such as Discord. This is non negotiable and we will accept no appeals. You can find this stated in ourCommunity Standards, which you agreed to upon signing up for Vythrosa.
